In recent times, the predominant application of blended learning approach in higher education institutions in Ghana and across the globe is as results of the Covid-19 pandemic. As most educational institutions have accepted and implemented blended teaching and learning method, there is the need to understand from the student perspective how the approach improves their learning in higher educational centers. Knowing the relationship between face-to-face and online learning mode of teaching and learning creates a gap which needs to be investigated to ascertain and understand the best blended learning practices among students. Hence, this study aimed to understand the social presence factor in blended learning community and student engagement in higher education institution in developing countries. The researchers employed the use of a qualitative approach to understand from a sample of six students' point of view how their engagement in a blended learning community, with their lecturers and peers are like. Themes developed from the results revealed that students understand blended learning approach, that the blended learning community has impact on students learning, that students encounter challenges engaging with blended learning community and their lecturers. Therefore, recommendations were made to ensure effective student engagement in a blended learning community. 2021 IEEE.
